Lowes is selling these for $299... thinking of getting one. I checked one out today and they seem pretty flimsy... just needing something to keep honest people honest and protect from kids while I save for a real safe.

PS, yes, I have up to $6k in home owner's insurance. Won't quite cover my collection, but better than nothing.

Opinions on this Gun [Locker]?

I have one and paid $149.00 for it at Dick's on sale. Wait for a sale at Dick's, OP.

Its good for kids but not a solid solution by no means. With that said, I had one til I got a real safe. I converted the stack-on to an ammo cabinet.

I bought my son one. IMO, it's better than the Field and Stream 10 gun for $299 at Dicks.

The dial is a lot smoother, the unit is larger iirc and the interior had more options for making changes. Also the one at Lowes included the bolt down kit.

It's not a $1000 safe but it better than a sheet metal cabinet. It won't keep a determined burglar from stealing your stuff but it will block 99% of kick the door grab as much stuff in the 3 minutes and run burglar.

I dont think Dicks will deliver to my location (NW OK), and lowes has 18 months financing with my lowes card. And i have a 10% of moving coupon...

this is what i would do.

just know that a kid and a crow bar can open the stack on, but it will keep "your" kids out of it.

Yeah, the link in the OP wasn't posted when I saw the thread. Dick's is more expensive than Lowes for the safe the OP is looking at today.

Edit: I guess I just do not think of fire protection and stack-on together.

I'm also considering just pulling the trigger on this.

$1100 (-10% coupon) from Lowes. Is this Fatboy a 'Real' safe?

ETA:  If you're talking about the cabinets.........................

It's called a cabinet and not called a safe for a reason.  The do provide security for your less than ambitious thiefs.  I have two.  I stack ammo cans full of "stuff" in mine.  I'd bet one of them weighs a ton...............literally.

I have 2 stack ons and consider them cabinets, not safes.

Currently trying to get my basement prepped for a vault, then they will serve only as ammo storage. (in the vault)

Lowes had the Centurion safe last year for the same price and is a little better IMHO. The Fat Boy is nice....

In before all the "it's NOT a safe but a cabinet"

ETA: to late...

THANKS!

Nice little safe. Perfect for the apartment that I have.  Not quite fullsize, but perfect for keeping the guns I like to shoot here safe.

Pretty sturdy little unit, approximately 400 lbs i would guess, and came with mounting hardware for the wall.
