| I need about 10 feet of wire to hook up my sprinklers but dont want to buy 50 feet which seems to be the minimum length they sell unless someone knows some place where I can only get 10 feet. Its for 6 valves so I would need 7 conductor wire. I only need 10 feet because I'm placing the timer inside next to a window and the sprinker valves are located on the opposite side otherwise I'd have to run the wiring from about 25 feet away around a door and I like a cleaner look. The window curtains will cover the timer so it wont look odd or out of place. I'm waiting on a freind who said he may have some but does anyone sell less than 50 feet? |

Quoted: How many wires does ethernet cable have? Can you use that, just chop off the connectors and strip it a little. You need 1 wire for each valve plus the common wire. 6 valves = 7 strand. The multi-strand sprinkler wire is 18 ga, color coded and the outer jacket can be buried/exposed to the elements. |

Even with good connectors, the bare ends of sprinkler control wire can/will get wet. Funny story: Homeowner called about his sprinkler system not working through the clock. Arrived on site and found he had used lamp cord for his control wires. The wire was corroded as far back as I cared to strip away insulation. May have saved a few bucks on the install, but definitely took it in the rear to get it fixed right. |
