I was lucky enough to catch a early show yesterday ($5.00 for a pre-noon showing) and was the only person in the room. It was fun, cheesy and a nice break to get away and relax for a while. The colors were a little overwhelming. Sound was good and the racing was pretty exciting. Amlost equal to the Star Wars pod racing. The kept the spirit of the cartoon quite well. The kids will love this. It is long at 2hrs 15min. I give it a 7.5 out of 10 |
and boy did it work! the whole style is reminiscent of the cartoon. It gave it the youthful feeling of entertainment. Right down to the "ice cold milk" at the end. LOL! |
I thought it looked Gay, just from the trailer.

BIG +1 Going into the film, saw it at the IMAX, thought to myself this one is going to probably totally bomb. However, remembering my childhood wishes to drive the Mach 5 I decided to see it any ways. Yes the colors fit perfect for anyone with ADHD, but didn't bother me. More than racing, good old fight scenes, No extra long dialogues, worth a watch. I was going in expecting a major flop, but overall wasn't a bad 2 hour 15 minutes. By the way, still saving up for my Mach 5 http://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a313/teletran35/Mach5a.jpg |
| All us little kiddies in the neighberhood would go ape Sh*t when it was time for speedracer to be on (Speed Racers On! Speed Racers On! Blaaaahh!) back in the early 70's when I originally watched the show. Fast forward to the mid 90's when MTV was rerunning it and I was stunned at how bad it really was. Somethings hold up to your childhood remembrences and some don't. I'll probably see it when it comes out on DVD for the nostalgia, but I can't see it really being all that good, maybe I'm wrong though. |

Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift on Ice. I know they were appealing to kids but the car races were a bit much even trying to suppress reality. The trailers made the movie look like it would be colorful, I was expecting it, and still it was like sensory overload. The movie was ok. My biggest negative was that I saw Iron Man the day before and couldn't help but make comparisons. |
