I was thinking, since the cold gas thrusters they are using are powered by COPVs filled with nitrogen, they should find a way to plumb them so they can dump the excess into the engine bay at landing to provide fire suppression.

(tour of Blue is on hold due to covid restrictions , good thing is that they did not lay off anybody due to it) Anybody know the reason for the extended fire ? And you guys with the extended insults are invited to go copulate in the distance. Grow up. |

But if I were to hazard a guess - I'd guess they are still having a few problems with flex fuel line couplings (but that's just a guess). When I built my airplane I had to change up my fixed firewall to shaking engine fuel and oil lines several times to make sure they wouldn't fail under vibration. |

View Quote Getting the hoses and wiring routed and secured so that it doesn't rub, but still has enough slack to allow for the vibration (doesn't pull anything tight and put a strain on things), can be a real pain on some engine installations. SpaceX has the added headache of the engines gimballing, instead of just vibrating. |
