I am sick as a dog watching tv when I heard someone try to open my door. I grabbed my handgun next to my chair and shouted out who is at the door and stop I have a gun. The door stoped rattling immediately.

Damn glad I keep a gun at arms reach, and always lock the door.

Probably a drunk got the wrong apartment given the day and time.

Well now they know where to shop for a gun when you're not home.

Did you have a massive adrenalin dump?

Link Posted: 1/17/2015 12:44:42 AM EST
Good thing you told them you had a gun.

lol gun owners....

He may be ok.

According to the street robbery thread, saying you don't have a gun means you do, so I assume the opposite is true too?

How much can you bench?

How much do you weigh and how tall are you?

In college, my wife and I were watching a movie when a young man opened our door and walked-in. Got halfway into our apartment, turned to me, and says, "Where's (some girls name)"

Me: You mean the apartment next door?

He leaves.

I follow him and lock the door...

I'd rather take the small odds of tipping off a robber, than have to explain to Barney fife why Otis is laying in a puddle of blood in my living room.

I used to get that a lot when I lived in an apartment.

People don't pay attention to addresses, and "assume" they have the right unit when it's dark outside.

My wife and I were watching TV when our apartment door opened and a guy walked in. I grabbed a large heavy glass and creamed him up side the head. Turned out the maintenance man had the wrong apartment and I just broke a heavy glass on his skull. No issues as he didn't knock and wrong apartmen . I really miss that glass.

'tis some visitor... tapping at your chamber door. ...only this, and nothing more.

You should adopt a more encouraging attitude toward unexpected guests.

What's up with the dudes having someone just walk in their place? Anyone else actually close the door by the lock, and turn the lock to lock the door once the door is firmly closed?

If you do this at someone's house you don't know very well...they may think you're robbing them!

Its kinda natural for cookie cutter apartments. I had the same thing happen, can tell someone was trying to open the door. I grabbed my Para and sat by, i surely didnt announce I had a gun, dumb move IMO. I truly believe they had the wrong apartment, after they walked away, I looked out window and i kinda knew which unit they were going to.

Fuck! Had you kept you trap shot for another 30 seconds your story could have been printed on some self defense rag and you could have been on TV. Well you saved a few rounds, so there's always that.

I got no issue with telling a burglar to go away but the first time he knows i got a gun is when i shoot him with it. Telling him i got a gun just preps him to shoot me first.
