I figured you guys would appreciate some pictures from my deployment this last year to Iraq.

Sorry about the quality of the photos, I scanned them from the disposables I used over there.

One of the 25mms they have on the USS Denver.

Myself blinding everyone.

The good rack on ship.

Some of my gear.

Getting mail for the first time.

Getting haircuts.

Don't know who took this, pic of the cemetery in An Najaf.

A picture you probably won't see in the news, the good Iraqis going to fight the Mahdi militia. I was on post at the time and was about to have a lot of fun seeing that many Iraqis coming at my position.

A crappy pic of Cobras blowing the shit out of Sadr's house.

Myself being excited with a captured AK.

More AKs.

Saw this in a house at Abu Ghraib, thought it was unusual.

Tanks getting ready to leave Najaf for Fallujah.

I gotta thank all you younger guys for doing what you do to keep us goofy civilians out of harm's way. Even though I am the Sergeant Major of the Armchair Commando Brigade of Aurora, Colorado,

, I realize that I may someday face a threat that I am unable to interdict (like little old ladies coming at me with pointed sticks, or especially hungry wrens pecking at my clothing), and when that happens, I'll look to the current crop of military heroes to keep me out of harm's way.

I console myself in the wan comfort that, when you were in Mrs. Timothy's 2nd grade art class, I was gamely defending you and yours by learning how to fly and trying to shag the easy girls in Pensacola, FL.

These personal pics are better than any from the news media. Many times, I wondered about the pics from the news media whether they are giving an accurate "picture" of things over there or just blowing smoke up my @$$. Thanks.
