I'm running Windows XP (SP2) and haven't defragged in ages. What's recommended to use: the windows built-in defragger or perhaps some third party alternatives? I've found some suggestions for JKDefrag (now called MyDefrag) and Auslogics (both free), diskeeper (there's trialware, but I can't find a recent free diskeeper lite that I've seen on another machine) and PerfectDisk (purchase product).
What say ye? |

What say ye? Defragging is not a critical as it as 10 years ago. NTFS is a far more resilient file system than FAT. That said, use the built in one and if you still have issues, then ... i donno. i never used anything but the builtin one. http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/bb897427.aspx |
