...an hour later, I ended up here:

Shafer Butte, near More's Mountain, 25 miles north of Boise.

Idaho rocks.

Yeah, I love living in the western US, and Idaho does rock.  But seriously, who is that creepy guy in the last pic?

Idaho definitely rocks....... but you would weep if you could somehow go back in time to the Idaho I grew up with in the 50's ( I was born in 1943 in Idaho ) Boise was 35,000 people. I used to ride my bike with a pump shotgun across the handlebars down to the Boise River at Capital Blvd and hunt ducks with the kid who's dad had a farm there.  The beauty of it is killing it.  Wyoming , too, I guess..but not as quickly. Just the memories of another old fart. Someday you'll tell the same stories--trust me.

Big Trinity Lake... 9500ft up at the top of Trinity Mountain.
Boise National Forrest.

It's pretty well hidden and the roads up thier are one lane, steep and rocky with no guardrails.

Another lake

A waterfall I spotted on the long drive down the mountain...
