[ARCHIVED THREAD] - Snowed In! (Page 1 of 2)

I'm growing weary of this crap; snow up to my knees and still falling, storms on the loom (they seem to be coming every other day), dark steely gray clouds overhead, and the pervading air of doom.

I slid down a hill yesterday and it took more than a half hour to dig my car out of the embankment.

Cabin fever is beginning to set in.  I haven't been on a hike in weeks.  Running is tricky and dangerous on the road.  The dog can hardly get out back to drop a deuce!

And if I hear another word of this global warming crap...

So how is it in your neck of the woods?

Well, it is crystal clear now here in Central Texas.  Got down to 45 F last night.  We have had only one good freeze this year.  But I fear the good weather will run out next month and we might get another ice storm.

Had an ice storm over the weekend, the snow-sleet-freezing rain stuff you can't shovel, you have to chop. Wish Algore would do some of his frequent flying overhead at low altitude; the jet blast would help melting it!

Forecast today is sunny and 75.  Bad news is, the wind is out of the southeast.  Really messes up the fishing.

Don't the days start getting longer after tomorrow...? Christmas and NewYears will be over in a flash and then it's downhill till spring. Here in MN it's yet another reason for booze'n, and a great time to do big reloading projects.

Everyone complaining needs to remember this 6 months from now.

97 degrees and humid is no fun for me.
Ill take cold and snow

It has been an easy year so far, I have only had to shovel the roof off once.  Of course, we usually get 300 + inches.

I'm just North of you.   Get some XC skis or snowshoes and get out in the woods.  Both are excellent workouts.

We are supposed to get 2-3" today.  I wish it was snowing now cause I would be out hunting instead of here at work.    Gear is in the truck and ready to roll as soon as the first flake hits the ground.

Come on white stuff!  Start falling!

Ever think of snow shoes?
Out of frustration, I threw them off into the bushes yesterday--they weren't doing me any good.  Odd since they were touted as being these "go-anywhere, do-anything" shoes...run, climb, you name it...they were suppose to do it.  After my most recent attempt with the damn things (they kept sinking into the snow at ankle-twisting angles, killing my feet), I just tore them off and heaved them into the bushes.

Really?

I have used Tubbs for several years with great success.  Most I have done so far is 4 miles in one outing.

We got 4" - 5" last night. I'm about due west of you on the other side of the mountain. I'll bet you end up with more than 2 or 3". We were predicted for one inch or less.

The ones I had were constructed of plastic around the outer edge, shaped in a way so the shoes would cup the snow--probably great for fluff in the high mountains, but dealing with wet and crusty show here in New England, they just threw me off.

I'm thinking of snatching up a pair of those MSR high density plastic shoes that get some pretty decent reviews.

Same here in Mid-Michigan. 44deg. right now with a high tomorrow of 45deg.
Very visable melt today between 8am and noon.
Just looked outside and all snow is gone except for the piles.

Then rain high winds (45mph) followed by a high of 27deg on monday.

I hate Michigan weather sometimes. Like when I'm on-call. Shit always breaks when we have large temp. changes. Lots of work.

Bunch-o-whiners must have snuck in here from DU...

Real men HOLD their urine, stead-o sprayin it round the room...

Get some snow shows, strap on a snowbaord or skis, get yer whinin asses outside and SHOOT something, or else take up knitting and become a florist before any of your wussness starts rubbing off on the tuff guys who hang out here and can handle a little WINTER without soaking thru their maxi-pads.

That's why it's closed until June.

I will take the snow any day over a humid day in TN.  Luckily I am "stuck" in Colorado for a couple of weeks!  It's just too strange to have winter with no snow/ skiing/ cold, etc.
