What really tics me off is all the speculation about the weapon used, and the talking heads making grandiose ststements about this and that re the possible weapon. Oddly enough, I can't recall anyone I've heard mention that the round is the standard US military caliber.
THE WEAPON IS UNIMPORTANT, at this point. The ID on the vehicle(s) is what's important for the public to hear about, and possibly aid in the ID of. If, as, and when they get the guy, the weapon may become important in making the case. Till then, what the hell is the difference to the public as to what caliber, what kind of rifle, what the shooter had for breakfast, did he love his mother, etc, etc, etc. It's just the damned media filling air time.
I'm sure happy I'm not an AR owner in the area right now. I'd be scared stiff one of my neighbors had seen me going to the range with one of the ARs or the Galil, and was calling the cops.
