For those that haven't heard, my friend Jaro Kuracina is the CEO of Grand Power s.r.o. of Banska Bystrica, Slovakia, and imports the Grand Power line of pistols into the US.
He has been working on a 9mm carbine/SMG called the STRIBOG, which is now marketed in the EU and Russia. It will now be coming to the US as the SP9A1 pistol version: 
Jaro advised me on FB a few minutes ago that he has received his ATF approval letter. He, and the whole line of GP toys, will be at SHOT. I am waiting to hear back from him about what booth number. UPDATES: 1) Uses mostly AR15 FCG parts. Selector may be different. Not finalized. Euro version uses a different selector. 2) As of 14 JAN 18, Jaro believes the price point will be around USD$799 MSRP. Importation through Eagle Imports, so may change. 3) Adaptor available for AR15 stocks and braces. Fiber Reinforced Nylon folding stock will be available, as it is the standard throughout the Stribog line. 4) He -MAY- make MLok available, depending on demand. I have discussed this with him many times, but he's a stubborn Slovak, and it's HIS company. 
5) 18JAN18: The ATF has approved a change, and all Stribog firearms imported into the US will incorporate M-Lok.

01 MAR 19: Jaro has announced a new importer relationship with Global Ordnance, LLC globalordnance.com/grand-power/. Initial imports will commence immediately with those items that already have ATF approval, including the SP9A1 Stribog and the GP line of pistols. ATF approval process will be commencing with the SP9A3 delayed blowback, non-reciprocating charging handle of the currently imported SP9A1, SP9A3S (shorty semi-auto pistol version of the US Army SCW competition entrant), and the RSR9A3 16.5" carbine. To get ATF approval, they are proposing an addition to the carbine stock to be riveted in place that would prevent folding, and make it a "thumbhole" stock for importation purposes.

He really is a busy guy, though.ETA: The mags are proprietary, but he says some folks have made adaptors to use UZI mags, but then you lose the bolt hold open. BHO is standard with his mags, which are made from polycarbonate. |

Interesting. Looks like a mini AR lower with a Tec9 upper on it. Does it take AR triggers? I asked him about the trigger. Waiting for the answer, but the pin placement looks good. ETA: He says the trigger is AR style. No guarantee on aftermarket triggers, but he believes it is possible. |

Looking at the pistol version, it's 3 times the size of an FNP with half the ammo capacity. I'm failing to understand the advantage. As to an SBR, I'll stick to rifle rounds in mine. I never saw any advantage to a pistol caliber SBR, especially one with a 10 round mag capacity. Those do look cool, however.

I like it. I prefer key mod, but M Lok is what the market went with.
Pistol brace is a must for the U.S. market. Given the lack of polymer aside from the lower, I highly doubt he is getting that below $1400. That puts him squarely in the "Fuck it, I'll get a B&T" area. |

I'm not really impressed. That upper being so square makes it look a lot like a Hi-point. So, it doesn't have the most popular rail attachment system, it doesn't take readily available mags, and it looks like a hoodrat fotay. Meh. ETA: What is the thread pattern on the barrel? That's important too. |

I'm not blaming anyone. Just saying, "What's the point of a semi-automatic 9mm carbine?"
For me, all of those examples are of zero interest to me. I had an Uzi. Sold it because I realized I would never spend that much money to turn it into a Title II gun, and I damn sure wasn't going to wait for the ATF to reverse the Hughes Amendment part of FOPA. As a semi it was.... boring. |
