Also get a very good rear tang sight - you will need it when you start reaching out.... I had them put on a MVA #103. How to use it: http://tmtpages.com/vernier.htm Thanks for the link. |

I have a Sharps repro similar to the one in my avatar.
It's single shot. It's impressive to sling 520gr lead pills over black powder at a crowded range. Sounds like a cannon and makes a huge cloud of smoke. |

Ruger #1 in 300 Win Mag
Armalite AR-50 in 50 BMG Several single shot 22's |

I've got my grandfather's single shot 22 Winchester, I think he paid $7 for it new in 1937.

I've got the same rifle in .243 with green funiture. Accurate and handy.

I've got a Trapdoor Springfield that I love, and has given me the bug to obtain more old big-bore single shot rifles.

I have a very old J. Stevens Arms & Tool company single shot .22lr.
It has a period Lyman peep rear sight and a wafer thin brass blade front sight. The metal is all brown now but the bore is bright and the rifling is crisp. It is a hoot to shoot. I would guess it dates to about 1910-1915 or so. |
|
Just muzzleloaders. Even my basic .22LR rifle is a Polish training rifle with a five round clip.

I have a British Enfield converted to .410 single shot that was used as crowd control in India during Empire era. Intend to use it for similar purposes when SHTF this fall Neat piece.

I've got an older 22 single shot bolt action of my grandpa's. I've never fired it. It was absolutely filthy and dinged up.

Forgot about a Martini-Henry.
Someday, when my dad hands it down, I'll have my grandfather's first rifle, a single-shot 22. Not sure who made it, but I believe it was the first rifle I ever fired too. |

I'm awful tempted to pick up an Encore Katadhin in .460 S&W, since I have a large supply of .452" cast lead bullets on hand that I can no longer shoot in handguns. Slap a reflex sight on top, load up some ammo and go make great big holes in stuff. View Quote My buddy has one in .460. It's a really nice shooting rifle. I have two Handi Rifles. One in 500 S&W and a .357. |

I love my Encore. Barrels in 445 SuperMag, 44 Magnum (threaded for suppressor use), 308 Win (also threaded), 22 LR (threaded) and 5.7x28 (my new favorite prairie dog toy, threaded). Have a 50 cal muzzle loader barrel for it too but haven't used that at all yet.
Almost forgot one. Custom Sako in 308 BR 20" HB barrel (1.2" diameter) for benchrest shooting. |

as a kid, i had a winchester model 72. i loved that thing, but was always envious of the guys with repeaters.. 72 was a tube fed bolt action The single shot version of the 69 and 72 was the 47, which was probably the best single shot Winchester made. The 67A was a "boy's rifle" and was cheaper, and the 55 "single shot automatic" was an interesting but weird design. Ruger #1, Remington 510, Winchester 47, Stevens 1915 Favorite. |

It hasn't had a magazine in almost 80yrs. |
