It's just a reddit post by a_hundred_goats. "The range called everyone who has qualified with a P320 last Friday night and told them that as of immediately the P320 is "No longer considered safe for Duty or Backup carry". The Range staff said they were able to replicate malfunctions that caused a discharge without a finger on the trigger. They did say that they are in talks with Sig, and if they can devise a fix they'll reevaluate the gun. This decision did not include the p365 which is still on the approved weapons list. This is frustrating for me because I finally traded up for a P320 and it's a champ, and now it's a paperweight. I like the way it fits my hand, the low recoil, the accuracy... everything. It came out of the box feeling as broken in as my last pistol took five years to get to. I posted this on r/SigSauer hoping for some info, but apparently they're very sensitive over there and gave me a permanent ban and removed the post, citing "Moderator Discretion" and offering no explanation. I'm hoping that there's some industry insider information here, and someone can share some good news that might get that thing back on my hip." So I'm interested and I'm sure others would be about how they replicated the malfunctions. Like is it the stick something in the back like the one guy on YouTube or something else. |

Man, I almost feel sorry for SIG at this point. However as someone pointed out in another thread, it kinda seems a little wonky, maybe, that they've been winning so many contracts for .mil small arms and goods. But maybe it's just cause they are that competitive and no more no less. Although it's fun to play "pile on" in GD , I still ultimately feel no one wins when any US manufacturer suffers, as the industry in general has been vilified by so many evil freedom haters over the years.I don't wish them any misfortune, and I'm now kinda waiting to see how this plays out, without rushing to dump my 320s, as I wonder if there might possibly be some kind of corrective measure taken en masse, kinda sorta maybe like how folks could send in or get credit for their Eotechs way back in the day. |

Where have you been? The internet figured out how to test for defective P320s weeks ago. |

This was a textbook case on how not to handle something like this. Obfuscating, denial, lies. Not a good way IMO. Not in this business. They aren't making a sophisticated weapons system that only they offer. It's a polymer framed striker pistol, essentially identical to the other 8700 on the market. Except theirs isn't safe. Either the design or execution is flawed. |

Quoted: Where have you been? The internet figured out how to test for defective P320s weeks ago. The only “test” I’ve seen recently is some guy removing the barrel and recoil spring from the gun while smashing a punch into the back of the slide to see if the striker moves forward. If you’ve got a link for someone actually demonstrating and replicating an assembled weapon firing without a trigger pull (post ‘upgrade’) please link it. |

The test is not “smashing a punch into the back of the slide,” the punch is used to actuate the sear to determine if the striker block functions. |

Quoted: Love my Flux Raider, but it has a manual safety and lives in a bag. Personally I wouldn’t carry a 320 pointed at my junk or vital arteries every day. From what I understand, the safety doesn’t prevent what’s causing the gun to discharge, it only prevents the trigger from being pulled. |

Maybe that's beyond the understanding of whoever wrote the article, but I'm curious. |

But you just have to trust the hearsay. Or else you will get dog piled for not jumping on the band wagon bashing the p320. I could not believe how many in the other threads are professional gunsmiths and have degrees in mechanical engineering to know exactly how the p320 is supposedly failing lol |

I also wonder whether that test was performed on a group of Denver PD P320s and from that they concluded the pistols weren’t safe enough for continued issue. |

How does that punch pressed where it was defeat the striker block sometimes but not others? |

In 2013 Sig can't by trying to keep our agency's business. We were tied of getting shitty treatment on our aging fleet of P229s. The rep was attempting damage control with us and tried to sell us on the 320 before it really has become mainstream. We ended up going to Glock who was outstanding with the transition. A few years later with the initial P320 issues we were really happy we passed. Even more happy now, though we retired out. |

Quoted: How does that punch pressed where it was defeat the striker block sometimes but not others? Don’t know, and frankly don’t care. It’s not a test of anything that’s actually going to happen in the field. It’s not a test of an assembled weapon. Taking the recoil spring and barrel out while trying to hold the slide in what you think is an in-battery position while jamming a punch into the back of a gun is completely unrepresentative of the lockup of an assembled gun. It’s not a test of a weapon with a live cartridge or primed case. Put the gun together, stick a primed case in there, and then do it. There are literally thousands of YouTubers and bloggers right now actively trying to induce an uncommanded discharge in a P320 on video, and none of them have succeeded in doing so. There is plenty of incentive to do so as being able to would draw great viewership to the channel or page. Even the SME’s hired by plaintiffs’ counsel in the civil cases, who had access to the specific weapons that were alleged to be defective, have still not been able to reproduce the malfunction. |

He wouldn’t be the first. Welcome to 6 years ago. I have my concerns about Sig and their 320 (and I carry an issued M18 everyday). To the extent I won’t buy one and am going with. Walther PDP for my retirement gig. BUT, if someone has come up with a definitive test that proves the pistol fires without the trigger being pressed I think it would be everywhere and Sig would be getting sued into oblivion. I agree that there’s likely a design flaw but don’t think anyone has devised a definitive test. Maybe I’m wrong though. |

The Range staff said they were able to replicate malfunctions that caused a discharge without a finger on the trigger. Well that would be a first. Unless they are reaching in with a dental pick and manually depressing the sear or something, with the trigger jammed halfway back. Which obviously isn't what's happening with these uncommanded discharges. |

Totally representative of normie’s gun going off in their holster without manipulation. |
