I would argue that there is a difference between indiscriminately shooting up a public place just to get kills while your loaded up on psychotropics, and your run of the mill gang violence.

But is there? Is a mass shooting not a mass shooting because it was gang on gang?

Or because it was in commission of a robbery?

The motives(reason the shootings take place) are very different. Same end result generally.

Long, 29, drove his mom’s car to Borderline Bar and Grill in Thousand Oaks, California in the early hours of Thursday, before walking in and targeting the cashier. Police raided the heavily-tattooed killer’s home Thursday morning, but have not yet released a possible motive for the shooting, which also left 18 to 20 people injured. Long who wore a black trenchcoat, glasses and beard, is then said to have thrown smoke bombs into the main bar area, before shooting with his legally-purchased .45 caliber handgun without saying a word. He did not carry any form of ID to the scene of the massacre, but law enforcement officials announced they had discovered his identity shortly after 8am EST.
