I picked up some extra patience tonight at the store and decided to try to wade through some of their drivel.

The past few times I've tried I've only made it through a few posts before leaving in disgust.

It's almost impossible to articulate the level of disgust that builds in me after reading the thoughts of people who are so utterly wed to their notions of reality that they just ...can't...see how completely WRONG they are, much less the way they squirm to avoid the issue when being directly confronted by facts that completely destroy their positions.

Half the time when they are presented with an obvious objective fact that is unfriendly to their collective cause, they ignore it.  If prompted vigorously enough, their responses range from childish insults to completely unintelligible babble.  In no case do I think that a truly objective observer would grant them the title of victor.

Tonight I managed to wade through a couple dozen posts about gun control.  If Mea Culpa and KHBaker post/are regulars on this board, I salute you.  Quite a fine job of confronting them with facts and then confronting them with their inability to respond when they fail to.

But the sad thing is, their opinions don't change.

Rabid liberals have a notion of how reality is supposed to be and insist on trying to comform everything to it.

The quite amazing thing about existing with people like this is that I know they're completely nuts, most of you may realise they're completely nuts, but there's no one who can convince them of that.

One of the more consoling aspects of believing in a final day of judgement by a creator is that someday they'll know just how wrong they were.

I haven't checked out the "freeper land" that they seem to view with the same level of contempt we view them, so I can't yet attest to the level of damage being wrought on us by those who think they're our allies, but my past thankfulness that they don't seem to either know of us or visit this place is gone.  Instead I find myself wanting them to come here, debating us somewhere other than their friendly little cove of like thinkers.

That being said, I'm not actually going to tell them about ar15.com and invite them.  Nothing worse than being the person whose shoe comes up "dirty" when dog shit can be smelled in the house.

Sorry, I did not see your post.  I should have placed my comments here.

I laughed my ass off how they were so revolted by Bush's speech.  If Clinton himself wrote the speech, but Bush delivered it, they would hate it.  They are consumed by hatred for anything Republican.  Like sheep.  I am generally conservative, but I am hardly in love with the Republicrat party.  Their democratic party is as much a corporate whore as the republicans, but the DU live in a fantasy that the democrats are somehow the good guys, who stand up for the poor the oppressed, the environment.

It's truly pathetic.

These people are so far off the map I would be suprised if any democratic politition would want anything to do with them. I think KHBaker is a member of this board.

I have had the same reaction.  The wads of shit that they spew is unbelievable.  I applaud KBaker he has really tried over there.  They just don't get it.

Aw, gee, shucks [:I]

I only do it for the entertainment.  DU is what's known as a "target-rich" environment!

And I restrict myself to the gun-control section.  If I went and read the general sections, my blood pressure would be uncontrollable.

Just remember - these are the people who want to disarm you.  Ignore them (no matter how stupid) at your peril - after all, they vote too.  When they can hit they right chad.

I just loved the "Civil War" thread.  It was fucking hilarious the way they plotted to win the war with the support of the "blue collar worker."  I guess they don't realize that most of the population is in fact not blue collar at all, but middle class.  One must surmise that they also don't know that it's us evil "white-collar" middle class jerks who own guns.  A fair number of the blue collar types (who aren't union) I know are right of Reagan and own firearms as well.

Anybody who is that intimidated by the chad on a voting ballot can't really be taken too seriously.

I may hold my nose and spend some time there to have a little fun. In which forums do most of the firearms discussions take place ?

"...and we can start by vigorously defending the Constitution of the United States of America, including the entire Bill of Rights. I have my ACLU card; where's yours?"

From the commentary contained within the 'article' on the State of the Union address.
Hypocrisy of this level disgusts me to no end, that someone from DU would DARE to claim that they defend the 'entire' Bill of Rights. I can honestly say, the lives of any of those people mean absolutely nothing to me, and were they to be trampled under the very machinations they propose, I would lift not a finger for them.

It also disgusts me how callously they treat the hard work of Americans. That your 'money' really belongs to the government, and how DARE you gripe about how much is going to it. These people want a godless (not just from government, but complete), moral-less, lawless
society. Sickening....

All I can say is you know they're WAYYYYY out there when they're convinced it's a Right-Wing controlled/biased media, and nothing liberal/left ever gets any coverage.  LOL, they refer to CNN as the Conservative News Network.  Now, maybe they're not liberal enough (that would be scary) for these people, but they're certainly not Right-wing controlled/biased.  Jeez.

I think the whole "Freeper" thing is in reference to The Free Republic site.  www.freerepublic.com.  A conservative site I believe.  Only been there once or twice, but there were solid, non-whacko conservatives.  They have some completely crappy forum system though, so I've never even registered to post or spent much time reading it.  Everyone who argues on DU is accused of being from there, and therefore they must be a spawn of Satan or something, lol.

These DU guys are completely crazy, end of story.  I have never seen any conservative group as frigging way out there on the right as those guys are on the left...  That is not a mainstream Democrat site.

The problem is they don't see it. Example: two bank robber's came in WITH guns to rob the place well the store manager+clerks had mechettes! they attack the guys with gun's, what does this mean! rather they ban guns or not there will still be guns out there, and there will be other means of killing. majority of gun owner's are you and me law abiding we will be the ONLY one's they would ever have a chance of dissarming(So they think!).

Yeah, although we might have the same problem with them that the Rangers had with the "skinnies" over in Somalia - overpenetration.  Most of the people over at the DU are probably just a bunch of hopped up, strung out losers.  "Hey man, who needs guns, just be mellow, man."

Is it me, or is the extreme-left thinking getting close to Socialism?

The extreme left is far past socialism.  I have a friend (I'm trying to convert him) who is pretty darn liberal and he has told me point blank that he thinks the government should take all money from people and dole it out to the deserving because people are too stupid to spend their own money.  I just about threw up...I think he realized how stupid he sounded after he spewed that crap out of his mouth.  He still thinks that way though.

I think the DU Revolutionary Wannabees have been staring at too many of their dorm-room "Socialist Realism" posters, the ones with the mightily-thewed factory workers with hammers striving mightily to make a better future for the People. I feel sorry for the poor doofs, but those workers were mostly replaced by robots and by overseas slave labor.

I think also that they believe that the hordes of McDonald's smashing, Birkenstock wearing, tree-hugging, dirt-eating, Rage Against The Machine listening, Third World Kitsch Venerating, Druid protesters will not be crushed under the jackboot of the government-corporate machine... they have the wrong enemy. They can protest the Military Industrial Corpocracy all they want. Why are they trying to antagonize us, the Armed Middle Class?

Just stupid if you ask me. Clarity of thought is not a hallmark of the Patchouli-stinking Left.

Anyone see the 60 Minutes Story about the tree-huggers in Washington state that opposed any form of governmemt.  Those non-meat-eating guys weighed about 100 lbs, I doubt they could protect themselves.  With no government to maitain some form of order these guys would be somebody's bitch within hours if not minutes.
