Basic at Ft. Knox in 1986 3/66AR 2AD first at Ft Hood and later part of 2AD Forward at Garlstedt FRG 1987-1990 IRR 19K Recall in Jan of 1991 Started out on M1's, they were actually still tagged XM1's as many were from the firs production run before the official M1 designation (100 tanks or so). Drew brand new M1A1's when my COHORT shifted over to Germany and joined 2AD Forward in mid-'88 ETS'd in 1990, and got called back with the 19K IRR Recall for Desert Storm. We put crews together, trained up and shot gunnery at Graf. War was over before we shipped out... so the sent us home in March. I had and AR15.com account back around 2007 but haven't been around in a while. Came back with the Rittenhouse incident and couldn't remember my old info, so I bought a new account. Stay On The Tank! |

1984 Bootcamp MCRD
GSOP group specialty orientation program 1St Mnt Bn Campen (pull weeds, working parties, police calls, waiting for school date) MCCES 29 Palms Basic Electronics, graduated no 1. As GA graduate assistant, I got caught with two chicks in the lab after hours. Fired, told to call in to show I was still alive until my next orders came) USASC/FG specialty school KW-26 Terminal Tech Crypto Course Ft Gordon GA ELMACO 2nd Mnt Bn Campen (no equipment here that I am trained on. I was assigned SASSY BPU clerk skate job. All I needed to do was call in to show I was alive) Breach of contract. Another school. (Was trained in wrong MOS to obtain bonus) MCCES 29 Palms MDCTTC school for 5-Van. At this point, I found I was contracted for E-5, which was no longer a program, which is why I was trained in the wrong MOS. I was promoted to E-5 on schedule. I had just enough time for a Japan tour, which seemed imminent, so instructors told me the best places to pick for wish list. What I got: 1st Mnt Bn, Comm Co, Mnt Plt, same shit unit I was in for GSOP. I knew the unit did not rate my equipment, yet somehow they pulled a piece of shit out of storage. It had one bad circuit board, probably never worked, I couldn't fix it, nobody in the unit could fix it. I could not get a replacement part, but borrowed one from another unit to prove the failure. The equipment was deadlined for the remainder of my service, and never worked. I was now the company librarian, trained by a gorgeous WM, a fucking unicorn. She told me half the shit we were supposed to have, we didn't actually have. Essentially don't do anything about it until your EAS. I made coffee. I drank coffee. I did absolutely nothing. Still no bonus. At this point I told the Master Guns that I fucking quit and am just not coming to work anymore. Master Guns fires off telegram to HQMC. I had my bonus paid in 2 weeks. Now I am so short, that I almost can't be seen. Fuckers send me to NCO academy. 1988 EAS, done with this shit. I spent almost all of my time in schools. I was still able to qualify 3 times as Expert at the range. I think I should go to the VA for PTSD. |
