Hey guys got a little situation here...ok just today, squirrels got into my attic. And it looks like they made a nest!!
They happen to trip on some wiring or chewed it up, and i had to call an electrician. 500$ Bur the thing is , he did not fix the dryer...forgot all about it since its the basement. Would suck to call him out again. So, help me out here. I want to hook up the dryer to a regular wall outlet, but i am sure it cant be hooked up since its 125/250,it cant just be plugged into a standard wall outlet, it will explode, not enough voltage and damage the machine. Its a 4 prong cord. some retard in "murica thought that 110v and 120v are great...yeah, they still kill, zap and maim kids. So why not just stick with 220/250v like all EU do???Then using pounds, inches, etc. Dont get me wrong, us, Americans are very smart but at the same time i laugh at my stupidity. So help this retard American out, what do I need to do for this operation. I have been killing the squirrels with peanut butter laced with rat poison. 3 already died from the bait on the porch |

Serious reply:
Fire experts believe that a huge number of "mysterious" fires in this country are caused by rodents and other small critters getting into attics and basements and chewing through electrical wires. Make sure you block any entry points into your attic to prevent recurrence. |

Did you already try a hammer? A couple prongs might come off. It's no big deal, kinda like taking the ground prong off an extension cord.
its a serious question..uh oh and no i havent tried the russian hammer approach..maybe use my own manhammer?? OK ENOUGH WITH THE JOKES. Seriously. Can i even hook up a dryer to a standard outlet or do i need some power inverter |

For an electric dryer you need 220 on at least a 30 Amp circuit. The odd shaped plug fits into one kind of outlet just for this. Since you have a four wire system, you need that kind of plug and outlet---not the one designed for three prongs. In the four wire set-up you have both of the line leads (usually red and black) the neutral which is white, and the green ground wire. Each line lead to the neutral gives a potential of 110 to 120 V. The potential between the two lines is 220 to 240V.
There is no easy and legal way to connect 110/120 lines to the dryer. You need to run a three wire with ground (four wires one bare) 10 gauge romex from your breaker or fuse box to the outlet. If there is an outlet already, and the rodents chewed up the existing romex, you need to pull new romex. If you have no idea of what you are looking at when you open up the breaker/fuse box panel, then you really need to call the electrician back. |

Ignore the heathens.
All you need is a fork and an old extension cord to cut up. Take the wire from the cord and strip it down to 2 pieces of wire. Take one piece and wire 2 of the 4 prongs on the dryer plug together and take the other piece and do the same to the remaining 2 prongs on the plug. Now bend the business ends of the fork to fit into the wall socket and hook the wires to either side. Plug the sucker in and fire up the dryer. Easy peasy. Meh. Disregard this advice, you might actually try it.
