I searched for this and could not find anything: 1. How would one go about building a decent shelter/gunsafe without having folks know about it? i.e. are company's cool with losing contract paperwork for the right price? I would love to have a walk-in gunsafe that is semi-hidden, but I know I couldn't do the work myself.... 2. If it ever came to the powers that be running through your yard with a metal detector; what can you outline a case with that will make your gear undetectable to metal detectors and/or ground penetrating radar? 3. How do you properly store guns/ammo in the ground? I have seen those big metal cases from mil-surp stores but they just don't look sturdy enough to withstand years of being buried? 4. Where are some other good undetectable places to store weapons? |
You didn't try hard enough.
Lots of options. Depends on your budget. Start here: www.saferoom.com/hidden_bookcase_doors.htm www.garymkatz.com/Charts/pivot-bookcase.htm www.hideadoor.com/ www.spacexdoors.com/index.htm www.hiddendoors.com/home.asp Thats for if you want on-going access to your stuff. Burying it is a whole 'nother deal.
I am no scientist, but from what I understand, what you ask is impossible, if they have the right gear. If we are just talking metal detectors, theres talk about spreading scrap metal above your stash...but the gear out there can be more sophisticated than just that.
Look into those plastic septic tanks ( new and unused, of course) . The weapons themselves can be stored in something like this: www.shomer-tec.com/site/product.cfm?id=99884738-E8B4-58E6-BCC015EDF4AAB902
Limited only by your imagination. |

ETA-unless you kill everyone who did the work after they are done 2. If it ever came to the powers that be running through your yard with a metal detector; what can you outline a case with that will make your gear undetectable to metal detectors and/or ground penetrating radar?bury lots of metal all over the place.don't bury anything possibly illegal on your property.depending on the scenario, you may not have access to your property-hence burying some at alternate locations. 3. How do you properly store guns/ammo in the ground? I have seen those big metal cases from mil-surp stores but they just don't look sturdy enough to withstand years of being buried?PVC pipe works good.glue a cap on one end and a screw on cap on the other with silicone to seal it.From experience, did a hole bigger than your pipe and insert a piece of plastic drain pipe,THEN put in your pvc pipe-it will make it a lot easier to get out.I use a post hole digger and put them a couple feet below the surface.I put everything in ziplock bags and the weapons go in treated sacks and in plastic long gun staorage bags-no issues with rust or corrosion.I also put other odds and ends in there (money, power bars,socks,etc..) The best way to keep a secret is when only you know about it. As for the other comments about burying them being time to dig them up-I agree completely. I just don't like leaving all my eggs in one basket. |
Never hurts to have contigency plans-house fire/house explosion/overrun by zombies/et cetera,et cetera............ That whole eggs in one basket thing |
