We've had posts about the uselessness of Facebook, Myspace.......what about Second Life?
I got into it because an old classmate was supposedly on it and in the year and a half I paid on it, used it less and less, found it rather boring, and if I was on, you were likely to find me in the art exhibit about "The Story of O".. I mean, you can't do anything in there. You can't even run a sword through people. It's not even useful as a tool to explore being a character because you are the only one on that script and "everyone" else is in their own little world.....and often, most of them are obnoxious jerks. So, thoughts? _________________________________________ ("You've taken a delightful little job that I did for a few years as a lark and turned it into a COLOSSIAL WASTE OF TIME!"––Shatner to the Trekkies, (w,stte), "SNL") |

cant you make money off of it? If you are good with texture mapping and design, you could make some "Lindens" (currency of SL); making everything from clothing to houses to cutom avatars and stuff like that. I hear people make some good money off people wanting a "unique" persona inside SL. Yeah! You'll find all sorts of weird things in there... |

Well, it was one of two things that I paid every few months on (the other was match.com which was another waste of time), but it is over now.
I did have fun for a while.....in my own little world. I was playing an android non hostile forward scout for a mainframe system, a long haired blonde, more shapely and even more relaxed dressed concept of "Romi"........but all it really came down to was a line or two, "people" turning away from me.....and then a lot of walking up and down slopes, underwater, in heels. Now the money can be utilized for other confidential projects, like prawn.......at least with that, you have something to show for it.......if you do dare to show. ______________________________________________________ ("I hate to disappoint you pal but most of the time that's the way it is for users too."––Flynn to Tron about how the user world isn't Asgard, (w,stte), "Tron") |

Did someone say Story of O? Yes, I did, I rather like the flick, wish I had it on DVD as well as the the VHS tape I bought a score ago. Rather interesting, isn't it? Stuff that came out in the 70's as prawn, even had a section in Playboy.........is now erotica at best. Of course, what is also interesting is seeing how her boy toy Rene, as in the actor who played him, Udo Kier, has changed so much. I'm sure Corinne doesn't look that great either.....but Udo has really changed! _________________________________________________ ("Time to play!"––Udo as enemy agent leader, (w,stte), Mercury Cougar commercial) |

The relative lack of hardcore action in some way makes it even more erotic for me. And I watch LOTS of hardcore lol. The book is a pretty quick read, I recommend checking it out if you haven't already. |

The book is a pretty quick read, I recommend checking it out if you haven't already. Have it in paperback, bought it years ago, haven't gotten around to reading it yet. I tend to have an extensive...and to some degree, interesting library. That's one of the interesting things over time. When I was a child, Sade's 101 Days was deep dark prawn and forbidden...........but in the 90's, you could find it in the bookstore in paperback! As it is, though, I have skipped his books, that, and Justine, and at best, it's pretty boring.....because it's sick and it's just one thing after another without enticement for the victim, without a chance to recharge before the next violation. Back to the movie: what's not to like? Wonderful fashions, ideal dream worlds to a degree, nice boy toys, and manipulative seduction of the innocent, the unsuspecting......although in it, the seductress is just a tool herself. Back to the topic: in the world I found "there", there was a photographic display of the movie and I often used the gallery, in front of the shot where O is being tied between posts at the Chateau, as my entry and exit portal. _______________________________________________________ ("The Marquis de Sade once said that love without pain was like food without taste."––Sarah being entranced by the wax exhibit of the Marquis "My, haven't we've been doing our homework!"––Mark, (w,stte), "Waxwork") |
