I have no idea if this is the right place to ask but would someone please tell me what I have to do and how to get full access of the search function on this site. There is so much info here and the best way I've found to find it is through google and I know there has to be a better way?

The search feature kind of sucks, google is your friend. I hate to say it (because it seems saying "buy a membership" is frowned upon) a membership makes it better.

Like every other forum on the internet, the search function here is utterly worthless.

You're always better off going to a search engine and typing "<search terms> site:ar15.com"

The search is lacking, even if you're a team member. Google sucks too because it always takes you to archived threads.

Want to know what takes up the greatest percentage of bandwidth/computing power on this site?  Searches.

If you need to search, do the following in google.

site:ar15.com search term here

Also you can click search tools above it, and adjust the time to search such as a day or week. This is the best way to search for dupes in case you are posting something new.

I don't get all the hate for  the search function; its always seemed fine to me. I can usually find what I want with a little effort.

As for op, you need to buy a membership dude, it makes it way better.

Sometimes but not even close to most of the time, at least in my experience. Google doesn't have access to or hasn't indexed everything on the site, so what you want may be invisible to it. It is helpful at sifting through what it does have indexed though.
