These are stated rules for "Public Search"
1. Public search is limited to ONE SEARCH PER 60 SECONDS.
2. Public search is limited to SUBJECTS only.
3. Public search does not allow searching by author name.
4. Public search is unable to access GENERAL or HOMETOWN sections.
5. Public search is limited to the past 30 days and 50 results.
6. Public search has no sort or display options.

I am not doing a public search, I am a registered member. Why do these still apply?

Why would a 30 day search limit even be applied to a visitor much less a member?
What if the post I need was 31 days old, I just miss out?

I hope I an just missing something simple when filling out the search page.

It's really just a verbage issue.

One has to be a registered member and logged in to use the search function.  There's no drive by searching.

Public search is the free account search.

If the post you need is more than 30 days old it is either unavailable in the public/free account search or it will have been moved to the archives.

I've found that the Bing and Google web page spiders have crawled AR15 amazingly well.  I use them for complex searches that the sites search engine has a tough time with.  Just specify site:AR15.Com and then your search terms.  Use the other features of those search engines as needed.

FPNI.
Just do a Google search Arfcom + whatever you're looking for.  Yes, "Arfcom" works as the search term.
As for the rest, membership does indeed have its privileges.  There's a vast wealth of information in the Team Member threads with a lot less peripheral "noise", unlike the GD threads.
