We had a thread a while back on cool verses of scripture to engrave on guns. What do you think would be some good ones for our troops in the sandbox? Here's a few I found appropriate: Psalms 23 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, [a] I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. "Blessed be the LORD my strength which teacheth my hands to war, and my fingers to fight," Psalms 144:1. Revelation 19:15 And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. Psalm 2:9 Thou shalt break them with a rod of iron; thou shalt dash them in pieces like a potter's vessel. Psalms 45:8-11. "8 Come and see the works of the LORD, the desolations he has brought on the earth. 9 He makes wars cease to the ends of the earth; he breaks the bow and shatters the spear, he burns the shields with fire. 10 "Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth." 11 The LORD Almighty is with us; the God of Jacob is our fortress. " Deut: 20:4 "For the Lord your God is the One who goes with you, to fight for you, to give you victory". Psalm 144:6 Cast forth lightning, and scatter them: shoot out thine arrows, and destroy them. Exodus 23:27 I will send my fear before thee, and will destroy all the people to whom thou shalt come, and I will make all thine enemies turn their backs unto thee. Leviticus 26:30 And I will destroy your high places, and cut down your images, and cast your carcases upon the carcases of your idols, and my soul shall abhor you. Deuteronomy 2:15 For indeed the hand of the LORD was against them, to destroy them from among the host, until they were consumed. Deuteronomy 7:2 And when the LORD thy God shall deliver them before thee; thou shalt smite them, and utterly destroy them; thou shalt make no covenant with them, nor shew mercy unto them: Deuteronomy 7:23 But the LORD thy God shall deliver them unto thee, and shall destroy them with a mighty destruction, until they be destroyed. Revelation 14:16 And he that sat on the cloud thrust in his sickle on the earth; and the earth was reaped. Psalm 34:21 Evil shall slay the wicked: and they that hate the righteous shall be desolate. Matthew 24:28 For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together. Hosea 8:7 For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: it hath no stalk; the bud shall yield no meal: if so be it yield, the strangers shall swallow it up. Jeremiah 21:5 And I myself will fight against you with an outstretched hand and with a strong arm, even in anger, and in fury, and in great wrath. Ezekiel 22:21 Yea, I will gather you, and blow upon you in the fire of my wrath, and ye shall be melted in the midst therof. Luke 3:7 Then said he to the multitude that came forth to be baptized of him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Ephesians 5:6 Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience. Revelation 6:17 For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand? Psalms 50:15 And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me. There's also a centuries-old prayer that goes: "O Lord God Almighty, in whose hand all victory rests and all war is destroyed, grant me that Thy hand may strengthen my heart so I may fight well and act courageously so my enemies may fall before my sight." You can actually see this prayer written in Latin in the church and the warehouse in the Silent Hill movie. |

Luke 22:36 Then said he unto them, "But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one." -KJV Non nobis, Domine, Domine, non nobis, Domine Sed nomini, sed nomini, tuo da gloriam. (English Translation)Not to us, O Lord, not to us, But to your Name give glory. This was used in the Kenneth Branaugh movie version of Henry the V after the English trounced the French at the Battle of Agincourt. |
