You want to make sure the are fresh and when you get then home clean the real well.
Bring them to a Boil.
Then dump out the water and refill with gallon of water plus 2 ups of soy sauce and could of garlic cloves.
Once boiling, reduce heat to a simmer and cook for 2 to 4 hours on low heat.

Depends.  Are you going to hang it in yer back yard and just relax, or are you traveling through the Columbian forest for a month and need to sleep with your body OFF the ground and somewhat safe?  Some are large and beautiful some are for packing.  Think mobile bed.

Hammocks? My goodness, what an idea. Why didn't I think of that? Hammocks! There's four places. There's the Hammock Hut, that's on third.

There's Hammocks-R-Us, that's on third too.

You got Put-Your-Butt-There. That's on third.

Swing Low, Sweet Chariot... Matter of fact, they're all in the same complex; it's the hammock complex on third. . . . you know the hammock district.

Most important thing to know:

Make sure you tie it off with a real knot and quality rope.

Having the MFing rope snap in the middle of the night will take the air from your lungs and you'll wake up thinking you're dying.
I've had two hammocks drop when the rope broke. One was while myself and another were on it while swinging around... the other time was in the middle of the night when the knot came undone.

The ones I've looked at stuff down in a carry pouch that would easily fit in a backpack.
I would use it some in my backyard and may take it camping some.
Can bug nets be put on all of them or do you buy a hammock that comes with one?

2nds on this. Locally made and comes in a bunch of colors/sizes. They also make rain covers and insect screens as well.

I was frankly surprised this wasn't the first post.

But then again I think the OP is looking for something a little more recreational and my advice is more centered on business hammocks.

To the OP.

I am not sure where you can get a real good quality jungle Hammock today.

I can say, they are very good if you are sleeping in a hot, humid, bug infested place, and there are enough strong trees to tie it off. A good one can be sort of closed up so even a hard rain, will not get you wet.

Here is a hint. Carry your spare set of clothes in a water proof bag. Put them on when you go to sleep. When you get up, put your wet clothes back on, ie your "day clothes".
Sleep in dry clothes whenever possible...

Keep your rifle and your boots, in the hammock with you...
