Went and picked up a ScanDisc Cruzer USB Flash drive today. When I plug it into a USB port the thumb drive light comes on steady & then the entire computer locks up. Ya can't add hardware, cuz as soon as it's plugged it it seems to take over the puter and locks things up. It even crashed the system to the point I got a blue screen of death I've never seen before. How do you get the silly thing up and running? I'm running XP home SP2 |
USB 1.1 or 2.0? And what size is the drive? And what mobo and processor? BTW, the old i810 motherboards had a ground fault that if a USB device had too much (or too little, I cannot remember) capacitance would lock up the MOBO. Usually plugging in a high quality hub wouldn't case a problem, and then plugging in the device into the hub would be fine. In XP do you have the service related to portable devices disabled? |

Heck if I know, the puter is a Del 8400 Dimension about 2 1/2 or 3 years old. The thumb drive is a 1G on sale from Office Max for about $15.00

| SanDisk gave the Titanium an easy to use U3 control panel. You can manage your data and the U3 applications with a few clicks. Removing applications plus downloading and installing them is a snap. You can also tell the Cruzer to run or not run U3 at start up by default, as well as mark one specific application to run each time you plug the drive in. |
