I have Direct TV here at the house.  I also have a travel trailer that I take out camping.  I want to use my Direct TV with the trailer.  I know it isn't real camping with satellite but I am taking it any way.

When the tech installed this for me he said I could use a 3 LNB dish instead of the 5 LNB dish I just cannot get HD channels.  I got a used 3 LNB dish and cannot get many channels at all.  I can get some but not all.  When I do a satellite search I get only half of the transponders.

Does any one have a solution.  I have it aimed with a strength meter and I do believe it is aimed correctly.  If I move it I lose all channels.

Please help.

The three LNB dish does not support MP4, which is what they are using for most of the HD signals now; most of them have been moved to the new satellites which are lower power and are located between the three existing birds. I was just involved in a project where we replaced the 3LNB dishes on our properties to the new dishes (over 1000 of them. Yes, I hate aligning dishes.) Lessons learned: If your mast isn't perfectly plumb you are wasting your time trying to get the dish aligned correctly. If your azimuth is off by 1/30th of an inch, it's enough to put the aim off by almost 800 miles at the altitude of the birds... enough that you are picking up Echostar instead of DTV. You may pick up a strong signal with your meter but it's the wrong satellite. We had to get newer advanced electronic meters instead of our old analog ones. I'd hate to have to realign a dish everytime I moved an RV.
