| Had a Smith 681. It got shot A LOT. Frame cracked behind the firing pin bushing, allowing recoil to push the bushing out of the frame to the rear. Sent it to Smith for repair. They shipped it back, "too bad, so sad, nothing we can do about it". A good TIG welder could fix it with a few tack welds. I buy Ruger revolvers now. |

I really hope they come put with new ones. Same with the m22-4. The square butt thunder ranch one is one of my grail guns. Especially if they take the hole out |

I'm sure if you google it, the complaints can be found. What are they?.... 3 to 4 ounces lighter than same barrel length in standard model? Othewise its a 29 with catchy logo and some swell grips (if the current-production grips don't have a QC issue). The taper-barrel is pretty. I have a four-inch 29-2 (non "Mountain Gun"). If I'm shooting MAGNUM ammo, I'm glad for every ounce it has. I think the internet has forgotten how much a full-power 44 magnum recoils. And MUZZLE BLAST. I think the new ones DO NOT have a Hillary Hole. Some of the older ones don't have a HH either. A friend of mine bought the first version when they came out in the 80's. Serious problem with cylinder counter-rotation on recoil when firing full power 44 magnum ammo. Good feature for working on your flinch. My 29 is not an EDC - but I won't disrespect it by calling it a "range toy." Its certainly not photogenic by any comparative standard. I like to run a load that allows me to shoot more than one cylinder before the bones in my forearm start squawking. The mountain gun grips are Skeeter-Skelton-nostalgic I might have to get a set someday. In the meantime, the ugly pach's help some with recoil. https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/105614/IMG_8667_jpeg-3828172.JPG https://www.ar15.com/media/mediaFiles/105614/IMG_8666_jpeg-3828173.JPG Damn! I really like your load labeling technique. sure beats my hand written scrawl on post it notes. |

It can handle .45 super but .45 super is more equivalent to .357/10mm. I use .45 win mag brass in my .45 colt MG but I keep it to .45 colt levels. 270@1000fps |

I’m getting near the point I gotta give away a whole lot of ammo. I hope my attention to detail in labeling is such that the recipient will have confidence that the ammo is safe. “Somebody else’s handloads…” |

You can buy a lot of auto-rim brass for the money you would spend on modifying the Long Colt cylinder. 45 SUPER isn’t that super. I suspect it will work fine at “super” pressures in a modern 45 Long Colt cylinder cut for moons. |

You'll lose 1-200fps vs an acp chamber due to the dimensions. I use win mag brass |

I am a S&W guy but will admit that for whatever reason quality has taken a solid dip. S&W triggers are generally decent but can be made quite good by swapping out springs. Always buy the gun from a brick and mortar store . I recommend you take a close look paying attention that the barrel , rib and front sight is not canted left or right. Check that both front and rear sights are solid and don't wooble. Look in the chambers and barrel watching out for machine marks. Last new S&W I bought new about 5 or 6 years back (model 66) was a silly search to about 6 different gun stores before I found one that didn't have obvious flaws. Turned out the gun I bought had the incorrect front sight that didn't allow any hits on the paper. S&W claimed they couldn't send me a front sight and wanted the gun shipped to them on my dime and could promise no better than a 4 week turnaround . I bought the sight from Brownells and installed it myself |

I’ve heard of the things locking up but never actually talked to anyone who had it happen. Nevertheless, it can be done away with. Mines a fun gun and I don’t mind toting around and shooting it cause it ain’t perfect. |

I had one about 20 years ago but wound up selling it since I lived in Florida and didn't have any real use for it. Nice gun. Wish I had it now since I live in grizzly country. But I did pick up a nice 4-inch Ruger Redhawk the other day and it's pretty sweet. And cost a lot less. |

Ruger replaced the barrel on my Bisley Blackhawk .41 Mag when the bore started pitting under the front sight. I told them that I had fired more than 1,200 full power handloads through it, and they said, "no problem". I also mentioned that I got a "flyer" out of every cylinder fired. I got it back with a new barrel and no flyer. I was impressed with their customer service. |
