Just saw he died at 73.
He was an excellent Chuck Yeager in The Right Stuff.

Good actor. All the actors from when I was younger seem to be dying off.

Avid horseman. I met him at an event about 6 years ago at Keenland in Lexington, Kentucky.

He was just sitting on a railroad tie wall, in jeans, a western shirt, boots and a cowboy hat, smoking a cigar.

We walked past him and at first I thought I recognized him. I stopped and my wife said "What?" I said "I think that's Sam Shepard"

Sure enough it was. I shook his hand and said that I have 2 of my favorite movies at him that he is in, The Right Stuff and Blackhawk Down.

I told him I remember seeing The Right Stuff in high school and I still get it out and watch it, in fact I had just watched it a few months before with my son.

He shook my son's hand and asked him if he was having fun.

Humble guy, sad he's gone.

Damn, the wife and I just watched The Right Stuff the other day.

Kind of ironic that he died, but the real Yeager is alive and kicking at 94.

I enjoyed his acting.

Back in 2009, he was picked up for a DUI here in town. Supposedly used to frequent a joint downtown.
