I see that Gander mountain has some safes on sale. They have a "Liberty Safe, Franklin 35,Gloss Black or Gloss Burgundy or Black Chrome" on sale for 1200 bucks (factory direct price is claimed to be 1800). The sale is through tomorrow so I have to act fast. so a few questions...

1: is this a good deal?

2: Is this a decent safe? Any good/bad experiences?

3: Do they set you up with people to move the monster in?

I really wanted to get a Cannon safe but this looks like a good deal...

while I can't answer your question, I can give you a bump

By the way, there is no "safe" question here at ARFCOM, just about anything will get an arguement going

I can't speak to the specifics of the safe you are buying, however the majority of retailers will deliver the safe "to the door".

Their door, that is.  You are on your own for having it delivered and installed.  Most folks hire a moving company, unless you have a crew capable of this task.

Consider the possiblity of damage when moving it up/down stairs and the fact that moving companies are insured for such losses

You need to find and compare the fire ratings.

I have a Champion, and its fire rating is 1200 degrees for 60 minutes, internal temp 314 degrees.

Liberty make an excellent safe.  Proabably better than cannon.  I am not sure on the price as I am not familiar with the size of the one your buying.  But in the end all a safe is going to do is slow someone down or keep them honest if they break in.  If they have enough time any safe can be opened.  Fire rateing is more important I believe.  In any case 1200 dont sound too bad if its of a decent size.

I have a Liberty safe. It is 800lbs empty. It is fire rated.
It's the best peace of mind I ever spent money on.

I went  to Gander mountain and picked out a safe. They didn't have the Franklin 35 but they had a Lincoln 25. A bit smaller but has heavier gauge steel and a better fire rating. I have to call up the safe moving guys to get it in this house on tuesday.

BTW, thanks for the input.

Also, whoever IM'ed me I'm sorry I didn't respond. Looks like the message accidentally got deleted.
