I have no idea how this got on my computer. I have spent the last 3 hours trying to get this crap off and finally got to the point where I can at least access the internet. Need a hand. Microsoft spyware got most of it but I'm still getting pop-ups every 45 seconds or so and for some reason with no programs running it's saying my CPU is at 34% of possible usage.

ad-aware and microsoft anti-spyware are both saying there is no spyware on my computer anymore but I've still got problems.

Any help is extremely appreciated.

I use Webroot spy sweeper, and it works really well. I think there is a free trial version available online...I'll go look.

There is a free version available to download.

ad-aware is lacking now-a-days. Try SpyBot and also Hijackthis.

Anything out of the ordinary running? Ctrl+alt+delete>click on process tab.

I've got pop-up blocker, a firewall and virus scan on my laptop. Seems to be working pretty well.

Stay away from the free porn sites.

McAfee stinger is sweet- run in protected mode and go to town.
I had to run in protected mode and DELETE explorer.exe and then restore it off CD

I use Spybot and Ad-Aware.  I'll run Spybot first then run Ad-Aware.  Will have to check out the Spy Sweeper, though.  May be worth buying.  Think I seen it at Wally World.

What happens if you have more than one Spyware or more than one Firewall program on your computer?
Aren't many of them incompatible with one another?

Didn't see that in his original post.   Just chaps my ass when people suggest potentially harmful "solutions."
