Very cool. It sounds really quiet. When I went to the auto show in Detroit, it seemed like the German cars were sound proof which is sweet. |

I remember when those first came out in 2003. 493hp!!!!! We had a blast driving them around the block with the top down and listening to the supercharger. They really are very quiet with the top up.
The tops rarely give trouble on the R230. The only thing that I would be afraid of is that ABC suspension.... even then on later models it doesn't seem to be a problem anymore. The new SL63 removes some of the smoothness and replaces it with a more aggressive feel. They are two entirely different cars. I like both, and there are days I prefer one over the other, but you could give me either of them and I'd be happy. |

My dad had one. A very "Mr. Jekyl, Dr. Hyde" Car. One second you're cruising and it's just like any other high end convertible, your right foot twitches and you think you're in a powerboat and you're staring at the license plate of the car in front of you.
Congrats on the car. Awesome machine. |

I've seen a prototype. It will take time to grow on me. I wished they had pushed up its performance a bit more, but for the price its probably where it needs to be.
MB classifies it as sports car, unlike the "super sports car" designation of the SLR. I haven't seen enough specs yet or driven one, but I do know that the top speed is about 10mph lower. It may be neck and neck otherwise, I've heard good things about it from people who have had it on a track. |
