We'll be replacing some hardware today including the problematic router and load balancer. This change should take place around noon today. (EST) The site will be down for a few minutes while we switch over to the new router and remove the old load balancer. We'll also be dropping in the new photo server which will still need to be worked on some tonight to get it back and running. That should be up tonight or tomorrow at the latest. |
This is the only replacement we've gotten. It takes a while to get a new one in and setup. The original one is still in there, we've just had to baby the hell out of it so it doesn't blow up as bad as it was early on. This new router should be solid and have no problems, but cross your fingers anyhow!!! Oh ya, there shouldnt be a lot of downtime unless the router config needs a quick tweak or something, so expect a few minutes down only. |
How do I get a job with AR15.com? The change window for our websites is 4:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Sunday. And the web is NOT a primary source of business for us!!! |
Pay for everything out of your own pocket, and you cna change servers at any damn time you please. Being king is good! |

Hey I told ya guys it would be quick!!! We had to move some of the cables before the push so that took all of 5 seconds, then we yanked the pos load balancer out, put the new router in, swapped power and cables, and let it boot up. Roughly 1 minute of downtime? Hopefully a very minor burp in the system. The new router should be good to go for quite some time, although we may upgrade the memory in it to be safe. No rush on that of course. Another spot of good news, all the machines we replaced worked and will be setup as we bring services online. We did have one machine die in transit, but it was just loose memory and we got it running within a few minutes. The machines which went up include the new photo server (just hardware replacement, not new code yet!) and the archive server (a monster!). Photos should be back up sometime tonight/tomorrow and Archive will be brought online once the rest of the site is operational and tested. Thanks for your patience guys, it's been a LOT of work on the networking, hardware, and software sides and things haven't really gone smoothly. Again I want to thank those who took the extra step to help us out with some of our networking issues. |
Why do people continue to post this crap? You think it will score you some points with the Silvia's, or something? Here's the truth... it is being paid out of revenue generated from the business. Write yourself a spider that crawls throught the pages and keeps count of the number of paying members, estimate advertising revenue, and prepare to pop your eyes out. You will want some of this action. |
So, then it will be 1100 EDT? |
stator, you'll be high on your ad revenue estimates. As a service to the gun community, this site is great. However, I would not recommend it as a financial investment !! 5sub |

Good Job GB
