OK.  So I have hidden my SSID, I use AES, and I only allow certain devices through using my MAC Address filter.  I have a Linksys wireless N.  For some reason my wife's HP laptop will not find the router and connect in the other bedroom.  My shitty Droid can at same locaion.  I have checked all of the log-on settings on her lap top and all required info matches.  Her MAC is on the list in router.  She should be able to find the network and log on.

Can someone help a brotha out?

Process of elimination. Disable the MAC auth, can she connect then? (You might have mistyped the MAC)
Set it up as a broadcast SSID again, can she connect now? (You mistyped the SSID - it's case sensitive)

Bottom line, I trust you've verified that she can connect with the most basic settings.

Check out DD-WRT firmware.

Could be an issue with hidden SSID.

I have one or two devices that won't connect unless I turn SSID back on.

Turn all security off and see if it will find the open connection.  Re-enable security one step at a time until it breaks.

Does the laptop have a G card in it and the router is set to N-only?

agreed.  not all wireless card / drivers play will with the ssid turned off

sometimes you have to tweak the wireless card driver settings,  if it allows you to do that

As said before.  Everything matches.  She was able to do it previously.  But every now and then her laptop will not cooperate.

Update the wifi card driver.

could be that a recently updated driver is causing the problem.  this happens with my linux laptop at the office about once a year, and update knocks me off the LEAP authenticated wireless.  sometimes i just suffer, sometimes ill roll back until i find one that was working.
