The Corpus Christi ship channel begins (or in the case of Thunder Horse, ends) at the Port Aransas jetties. Beyond the jetties is the Gulf of Mexico. TH is being pushed by two tugs and is being "steered" by the two small tugs which are lashed to the "temporary bow." [TH was pushed stern-first down the CC ship channel.]
