The dumbass could still have captured the nomination.
He should have waited out Gingrich, Bachmann, and Hunstman, and hung in for a few more states hoping Santorum flamed out. That would have positioned him as the default anti-Romney with fund-raising ability and a strong campaign staff. |

I don't know what Perry was thinking, but he simply entered into this campaign woefully unprepared. His past political success probably led to overconfidence on his part, and that in turn led to an epic collapse only rivaled by Fred Thompson in 2008. It is sad really. I believe Perry could have been the candidate to knock Obama off his perch if he hadn't blown it by looking like a total idiot. The nomination was his for the taking when he entered the race. |
