| Thank you for doing that. Yesterday I saw a kitten at the median wall on I 585 while on my way home. Not much bigger. It went by quick and it was rush hour. I couldn't just stop and the way people drive around here, I couldn't risk my life over a stray kitten. Nevertheless, I have been feeling awful the last couple days, know how terrified that kitten must have been at the very end of its life. |

We have one that started life like that. She staggered on to our patio, and could barely walk INTO the food pad we had out for the ferals.
My wife scooped her up (she didn't fight, being so weak). She is now three, and has turned out to a beautiful, active and very friendly cat. The rescues are sometimes the best. |

Quoted: Ran a call and came back to the station to resupply the ambulance. I was about to get in and leave, and I heard a kitten. It was about 20 feet behind the truck. So I went back and it didn't run away, so I picked it up. It was the tiniest kitten other than newborn I ever saw. http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p44/resq2106/IMG952144_zpsfeb6b72e.jpg http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p44/resq2106/Mobile%20Uploads/20150607_081519_zpsb5f6c92c.jpg Long story short, it stayed at the station in a box and the shift supervisor's wife wanted it, so he took it home. They named it Baghera after the black panther in Jungle Book. Here it is on the way to the vet for it's checkup and shots the next day. According to the vet, it's 4 weeks old and weighs 11 ounces. He said it was most likely the runt and was abandoned by the mother. Lots of feral cats in the area. http://i125.photobucket.com/albums/p44/resq2106/Mobile%20Uploads/2015061095145816_zps171170e8.jpg CSB. And fuck the cat haters. |
