Which has a better resale: Cruiser, Dual Sport, or Sport Bike? I am in the market for my first street legal bike. I am trying my hardest to lean towards a dual sport(mainly xr650l), but I wondered what the resale was like for them all. I am thinking that if I don't like the street, I am going to want to be able to sell. From what I can tell by looking on ebay, sport bikes have the lowest resale. I would guess that dual sports are next, and then it seems that cruisers hold their value pretty steady for a few years then drop very slowly. I saw a 1985 honda shadow for like $3500. Thats a lot when you consider you can get a new one for twice that. What do yall think? |
Depends alot on the bike itself. My BMW sells for near what I paid for it (used) three years ago, I've seen some on ebay go for MORE then I paid . My friend rides a ducati 999, he's added about 10,000 miles to it and he could sell it for slightly less then what he paid two years ago.-JTP |

I thought about the high gas prices affecting the price of bikes right now. That is one reason I want one. I don't see the prices coming down so I am thinking next year...or even after the summer...prices are going to be even higher for bikes. So resale is more or less bike specific. Well the bikes I am looking at are an XR650L, Honda Shadow Spirit 750, or the Suzuki Dr650. Which one has the best resale and would be the easiest to sell? Thanks. |

You're not going to save money by buying a bike. Value is an important consideration when shopping for a motorcycle. The value of your life should be placed much higher than the value of the money in your pocket. Ask Mr. Ring if he was having second thoughts about spending so much on his S4RS Tricolore when a cage pulled out in front of him. He'll be the first to admit that he would have died if he had been riding a less competent motorcycle. |

There is some information posted here on the Shadow 750 and a couple of other bikes. Maybe you'll find it helpful: www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=134&t=720708 |
