As someone that is in the whole sale fuel business (Not propane specifically), the licenses revolve around the storage of hazmat materials, and the proper taxes for said materials. They're not specifically difficult to get, but more so for consumer protection and as well as storage protection. They're *really* not hard to get licenses for. I know that's not your point, but in the case of fuel sales licenses, it's having the ability to properly pay fuel taxes to different states, as well as importing / exporting fuel from each state. I'm right on the edge of OH / PA / WV, so we import and export fuels to those states. With that, each state has a different tax structure. |

Meaning you're already in a larger broker's system, buying fuel and they're not asking for updated information. So you drop your licenses, continue to sell un-licensed and suddenly you're not reporting any income... A number of competitors of mine have decided to do that trick. And have been put out of business by the IRS. |
