How are you dealing with the primer crimp on military brass? I have the swager kit from RCBS but I tried the RCBS chamfering tool used to clean up case mouths after trimming. You guys know what I'm talking about, one end for the ID and the other for the ID. the ID side does a clean and quick job with a few twists or a quick shot in a cordless drill.. Works just fine for me.. How 'bout you? |
I gave up on removing primer crimps. I just buy commercial 1x brass from wideners when it's cheap and available. I have the RCBS tool as well, I have tried the Dillon super swage, both just make you handle the brass so much, and it already takes forever (I know, I'm a pussy ).When loading in bulk swaging/reaming sucks. I'll save the 4k I have for when I man up and buy a Dillon 1050. |
I just finished up 1,000 rounds with this tool. I bought some Winchester brass online, and all of it had Winchester headstamp and crimp. I did small batches over a few weeks, and it worked fine. The super swager would have been easier, but would have cost me more money. (I already had the RCBS) |

I made a decrimping tool (basically a countersink with a depth limiter) and I chuck it up in my mini-lathe when I'm reloading military brass. When I run across one with a tight pocket, I turn on the lathe and apply the case to the tool for a couple seconds. I also have the RCBS swager but it can take several violent smacks to get the crimp ironed out. |

Hornady Primer Pocket Reamer Toss the handle away and put the cutting head in a cordless drill and go for it. Works great for me on 5.56, 7.62 NATO, and 30-06 brass. |
Same here, chucked up in a drill press. |
I bet it works better in a drill press. Wish I had one.

Same thing I've been doing for years. |
