...so I'm posting some links to some of my favorite reads on firearms that have gone the extra mile.

Old Dirty:

Filthy 14:

Bigbore's Glock 21:

Chuck Taylor's Glock 17:

Anyone else have any links that I've missed?  These are the four that always come to mind when I think of reliability...well that and the youtube vid of the AK firing after being buried for 18 years.

I used to be fanatical about cleaning my guns after EVERY range session.

now I clean them 2-3 times a year.

they still work and I save a ton of time and money.

G19
AR15 x 4
Rem 870
Marlin 336

hell, I even abuse the Springfield 1911 now. but it is not relied upon for self defense.

still have to clean those dirty ass .22rf pistols and rifles though.

The conditions in Iraq are about as bad as it can possibly get for testing a weapons true reliability. And so with having to do 18 hour patrols every day, having so little time to sleep, let alone having time to clean weapons. Yet when we got into fire fights, not one of our M4s jammed.

NOBODY better tell me that the AR15 is not a reliable enough weapon system to depend on with your life.

I just went out and grabbed it.

It looks a bit different from then, I changed the stocks and cleaned the rust off some although its starting to come back. Hard to keep the rust off when its in the trunk.

I recall one of Marcinko's SEALs in Vietnam like a Remington 870 with a duckbill because of it's reliability.  It was James "Patches" Watson, who said in a pinch he could clean it by dunking it in a stream.
