I have a half sized commercial fridge that doesn't cool at all. The in and out tubes are both room temp. The lights work, fan works, compressor runs. There is only a thermostat, motor protector and relay attached to the wiring. No capacitor as far as I can tell. When the compressor runs I can hear liquid moving a little bit and I can hear it after I unplug it. So, there is something in there. Is it possible that it's just oil in there making noise and that the coolant has leaked out?

Any help would be appreciated.

Is this in your restaurant? I ask because it will probably cost you a couple hundred if the leak is in a repairable location and $500 up if it's in the evaporator. You say is commercial so if it's not more than 15 years old, parts can mostly be had but installation is best left to a professional.

It' sin my business. A new fridge is like $300, so if it's the coolant I'll scrap it. If it's a relay or something though, I would like to fix it. Those are cheap.

When the compressor is running check the pipes leaving the compressor one should be hot and the other cold. If not the gas most likely has leaked out.

With a new fridge only $300 I would get a new one. To have someone to look at it. It will be a $100 just to get them to walk in your door
