My GF's refigerator is has been acting up for about a week. The freezer gets warm and as a result so does the fridge side. After some period of time it comes back on and ice collects around the back of the freezer behind the ice maker. I removed the back panel for a few days to see if the coils frost over. SO far I haven't seen it.

I'm thinking the defrost cycle maybe staying on too long??? Is there an easy way to check and see if the sensor/contol or whatever is bad?

Any other ideas?

Bad evaporator motor or a defrost timer.  My bet is on the defrost timer being bad.
