| I haven't seen Red Orchestra mentioned in here. It's online only, although you can practice offline. It is geared toward teamwork. Loanwolfing it, like on COD and other console games will get you uninvited pretty quick. They try to do historic WWII battles. You are limited in the amount of respawns you have, dependent on the numbers that were actually in a battle. Ballistics are modeled in every round fired in the game, from bullet trajectory to time of flight. You can't bunny hop, not everyone can be a sniper or machine gunner, when you suppress with a machine gun or a lot of rifle fire, it actually works to suppress and those taking that can't fire back accurately. It's the most realistic FPS out there. You buy Red Orchestra and you can play as the Russians or Germans. After that you can download Darkest Hour and have the US and British. Red Orchestra 2 should be coming out soon as well. This game/simulator makes COD and other FPS seem like games for 12 year old kids. You'll find a more adult crowd, more challenge and more realism. |

Oh ya... been playing it off and on since it came out. Every once in a while, we all get into a kick, install it, check out some of the changes made to the old maps. Mare Nostrum never really seemed to have much staying power though... I haven't heard anything about ROII
Oh, ya, by the way, the best time is a 2 man team, Panzerfausts and the sidecar motor cycle hunting Russian tanks... So much fun! |
