http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2415191/Global-cooling-Arctic-ice-caps-grows-60-global-warming-predictions.html

Record return of Arctic ice cap as it grows by 60% in a year with top scientists warning of global COOLING

  • Almost a million more square miles of ocean covered with ice than in 2012

  • BBC reported in 2007 global warming would leave Arctic ice-free in summer by 2013

  • Publication of UN climate change report suggesting global warming caused by humans pushed back to later this month

A chilly Arctic summer has left nearly
a million more square miles of ocean covered with ice than at the same
time last year – an increase of 60 per cent.

The
rebound from 2012’s record low comes six years after the BBC reported
that global warming would leave the Arctic ice-free in summer by 2013.

Instead,
days before the annual autumn re-freeze is due to begin, an unbroken
ice sheet more than half the size of Europe already stretches from the
Canadian islands to Russia’s northern shores.

The Northwest Passage from the
Atlantic to the Pacific has remained blocked by pack-ice all year. More
than 20 yachts that had planned to sail it have been left ice-bound and a
cruise ship attempting the route was forced to turn back.

Some
eminent scientists now believe the world is heading for a period of
cooling that will not end until the middle of this century – a process
that would expose computer forecasts of imminent catastrophic warming as
dangerously misleading.

The
disclosure comes 11 months after The Mail on Sunday triggered intense
political and scientific debate by revealing that global warming has
‘paused’ since the beginning of 1997 – an event that the computer models
used by climate experts failed to predict.

In
March, this newspaper further revealed that temperatures are about to
drop below the level that the models forecast with ‘90 per cent
certainty’.

The pause –
which has now been accepted as real by every major climate research
centre – is important, because the models’ predictions of
ever-increasing global temperatures have made many of the world’s
economies divert billions of pounds into ‘green’ measures to counter
climate change.

Those predictions now appear gravely flawed.

Global warming is a cult.

My favorite were the copper mines that were found after a glacier had receded in Europe.  That means sometime when man began to mine copper the glacier had receded far beyond the point of the mine.  Not to much CO2 being released by man prior to copper mining, so who does Gore blame that on?

Why do you think they replaced "global warming" with "climate change"? Because they can't predict shit, and it's all America's fault.

You don't have to be very old (I don't think I am) to remember when the scientists were warning of the next Ice Age.

I, fortunately, had a very 'honest' Professor in college. You have to look at the data yourself, not the conclusions. The Conclusions are often written to get you funding from politicians in the next fiscal year. Wrong conclusions = No Funding.

Governments often use boogeymen to incite fear in the population and use that fear to elicit an irrational demand from the public for even more govt power. This is just one example.

Just finished the book 'Resolute'.  It's the story of the various Franklin expedition rescue attempts.  Even though the explorers/rescuers spent decades trying to figure out what happened to the Franklin expedition they could never seem to grasp the idea that various bays, straights, etc could be open one year and not the next - or the next several.

Near as I can tell, they still haven't figured that out.

I remember watching a video in college (around 06') from the 80's or early 90's that had several scientists saying that large parts of the Florida coast would be underwater by the year 2000.

Our professor showed us this video to make the point that a lot of what we hear about climate change is pure conjecture, and some of it is pure bullshit.

That's right. Environmental efforts have worked so well the trend is reversing. But... we can't let up. We need to continue throttling coal plants, taxing consumers, selling CO2 credits and pouring money into alternative energy so that our children around the world can breathe and/or not be flooded out of their homes.

As I recall there was a big storm last year at just the right time that trapped a lot of heat and broke up the icepack leading to the record low, this years ice is back to recent norms.

When I was in high school physics my teacher (retired USMC) gave us a bit of an experiment to do.  He handed out a piece of blank paper and had us draw a short line on it, that he told us represents a year.  Then he had us measure the width of the line, we came to a consensus that the line is about 1mm.  so he then cut a strip 220 mm long, this is the length of time that the US has been a country.  then he grabbed a roll and cut a piece 10 meters long, this he said is the length of time that humans have existed. (turns out he was a little wrong but the point still stands). He then had us figure out how long the paper would be if we had 1 line for every year the earth has existed (4.3 billion years)  the paper would be 4300 kilometers long, so the point of this exercise is that when it comes to earth, and solar system processes using the last 10 years, 100, 500, 1000 or 10000 while it may be a long time for us is almost insignificant in geologic time frames.

I believe in global climate change as I think all the deforestation going on and urban sprawl is bad. I think we will see wind patterns change, more droughts, floods, fierce storms. Leveling forests and mountain tops will do that.

however,
I do not believe in global warming however.

Saved the article to send to our middle schools principle. They still have 8th graders read Al Gore's book and teach it as FACT.  3 years ago I helped my now 11th grader with some rebuttal on the report he had to write.

Looks like I'll be adding some umph to his little brother's report this year. Still can't believe they teach this shit.
