| Lets say you have a Colt AR or M16 receiver that is damaged. Or want to update it from an A1 to A2 specs. Will Colt help you replace it with the same serial number? I dont expect it for free and would pay for it. |
| AFIK you can only repair it, though i'm not sure what the definition of "repair" would be. say you blow the whole thing to pieces, but find a chunk of the magwell and side of the reciever with an intact serial number on it.... if you were to weld it back together using parts from a new reciever and all new internals would that still be a repair? i dont know! that's why the law is RETARDED!!!! |

When it comes to Colt its not so much a matter of what Colt "can do", but "will do". Over the years I've seen one thread involving someone who sent them a A1 receiver and received back a A2 this was followed by a dozen or so people contacting Colt to do the same thing and being refused. As they say "the success or failure of a good rain dance is largely dependant on the timing" |
That was Stokes if I recall. Think they replaced his A1 with an A2 stamped with the same serial number. |
That logic would imply that the serial number, not the metal it is stamped in is the MG. How odd. |
