Grandparents gave their home in western PA to their three sons and my sister and my cousin. Five names on one deed. My sister and my cousin since my mother passed away in 1990 and they wanted her to be represented in the transfer and my cousin since her mother, my aunt and their daughter isn't the type of person you would give real estate to, meaning she is the 60 year old that still livs with my grandparents and collects SS.. Well long story short. I have a real fucked up bunch of relatives. On of my uncles is the real jealous, miserable, mean spirited types. hates anyone who has accomplished more than he has in life. Well our family likes to travel back there several times of year to visit family and relatives as wellas we all hunt there in the fall and winter. But tis uncle just makes it so miserable. Always bitching about this or that, starting quarrels, etc. it has become so bad that when he goes, we all stay home. So bad in fact, his twin brother had bought a place in another part of the state as a second home and getaway place. Of course this just infuriated the miserable one even more. So my sis being very well off money-wise and my cousin have been thinking of a legal way to either force or otherwise buy the said miserable uncle from the deed. Well, not so short but what are their options? |

They probably have to ask your uncle if they can buy his share, or if he wants to buy their shares. Maybe look into adverse possession and seize the property if he doesn't use the place. There's probably some nasty method that will lead to the sale of the farm to a third party so that none of the family ends up with a piece. Might be the only choice barring civil behavior amongst the family. Then, no one except the new owner is happy. |
