Well sorta it's just a protype and it just shoots nerf balls but cool nonethelesss![]() here is a 5mb video of it click the link inside for the video |
Yeah but something that can jog down alleys, and kick down houses would be sweet. It would be fun to be able to take a direct hit from Hadji , turn around and chase him to his hideout and kick it apart. The sheer terror effect, paint em up like big scary clowns. Maybe put a huge chainsaw on one arm. |
There ain't no damn 35 ton armored vehicle that can withstand an RPG. Why would you believe that a 5T or 10T mech could? This is the kind of 'thinking' that makes people wonder why we have causalties in the first place, and the media to brood over the body count. Please get a reality check. Your 'it would be fun to chase Hadji...' shows a complete lack of understanding of the capabilities of AT systems, and of the limitations of armor. There is no perfect tank, and there sure ain't gonna be no perfect PBA (personal body armor)/warrior-mech. rant off-

Like I am that serious about it ![]() Good point about the trip wire. |
Yea, but they look cool, ok man?!??!
|
I'd say more like an Urbanmech. ![]() Incidentally the urbanmech was suprisingly well armed for something of about the same tonnage as a Locust. EDIT: On topic of the "thing" in post 1....that thing looks pretty lame. As a sci-fi geek who never grew up I'd love to see power armor & mechs one day. As a geek I can't think of a soldier nuts enough to want to pilot one. What happens when you are the biggest target? You attract the most bullets. |
|
but it was slow as hell. but then, it was intended to street to street and not open areas. and a running mech in a city usually ends up skidding on the pavement at some point. what was on the urbanmech, ac10 and a small laser? my 3025TRO is in the basement I'll wait for the battlemaster to be made |
Here's a free search for ya www.ar15.com/forums/topic.html?b=1&f=5&t=340301 |
![]() this thing sucks, its only a mater of making it, it uses poor balance when it moves, it doesnt pick its feet up, has no anckle joint, and thus can't adjust its feet for anything but flat terain. people have been building tiny robots for years now that are way more complicated than that. its cook that he did it, and that he can go around in it, but i'm not impressed. now excuse me while i look at real robot genious online and see bipeds that can dance and do kung fu. |

As cool as "mech" designs are, they would be too vulerable (no shit, right? lol). If I was going to pick a design for an odd combat vehicle, or drone in this case, I'd choose the Tachikoma from Ghost in the Shell. Aside from the problems they had with them in the story line, you could equip these for a variety of support situations. Granted the technologies that make them useful in the show don't exist and probably won't exist for a long time to come, they are a much more feasable platform then a top heavy, two legged mech. Just look how easy most people can be knocked over. Now imagine you weigh a couple hundred tons... Who is going to help you get up? |
Always been a Marauder/Mad Cat fan myself. |
Yeah, you're remembering the Urbanmech right. I used to try to game urban terrain setups often and I used these lil' guys a LOT. One on one against other light mechs they almost always won as long as they were facing the enemy during initial contact. Against medium mechs they usually made a fair showing. Once had a lance of Urbans (4 strong) deal two assaults mechs (the biggest guys for non-battletechers) quite a bit of damage before they went down. I got unlucky and lucky there. Unlucky on troop deployment to have these two groups square off rather early. Lucky in that they did enough damage to allow some mediums to mop up the assualts a few turns later...and my opponent wasn't familiar with urban fighting in the game. Man, you're gonna make me dig out my unpainted minis and mix my paints up again. Haven't played btech since second edition came out. |

http://www.netbattletech.com/nbt-mercs/ For those of you who know CBT and such, there is a link to the league I play in. Actually, we are in between leagues. The Net BattleTech League has COMPLETELY redone the MW:4 game and it is MUCH more fun to play now. I highly suggest it if any of you guys tried it, played it, or think you might enjoy the game. It is a lot of fun. Check it out. The new league starts the May 1st. Look for "NBT=Hard Core" (the name of the new league) oh.. and BTW.... the WARHAMMER is the best Inner Spwhere hvy mech, in my opinion. |

That one is just two wheeled "Feet" that shuffle in sync... Not a Biped at all. Although a biped would provide serious advantages (and I doubt that a rope or even a steel cable would be enough to put a stop to something with that much heft and inertia). We are probably some years off from the real thing. Although when that day does come... I call dibs! |
Agreed... but weren't they called "Fuchikomas?" |
Tachikomas are PANTS CRAPPINGLY SWEET!!!!! |

none of that Inner Sphere crap.
