Went shooting with a buddy yesterday. First time since last November. He had just put a scope on his 10/22 and wanted to sight it in. So we loaded up the gear and off we went. We had a good day. Shot pistols, rifles and shotguns.
Had a little squirrel that kept popping out about 75 yards out. Took about 5 shots at him but never hit him. He'd run right back out there and dance around. I think he was the squirrel Dangerman. Had an issue with my 1911. Loaded up some ball in my spare mag and unloaded the carry ammo. Loaded up, took aim and click. WTF, over. Cock the hammer and try again. Click. Click. Cycle the slide. Click. Not good. Starting to sweat. Look at the rounds and good primer strikes. Hmmm. Load up out of a new box of ball, BANG. BANG. BANG. Then it hits me. It was raining last Nov. When we went shooting. Ammo was in a MTM plastic ammo box, primers down. Must have got some water in there. Primers must not have been sealed good enough. One more thing. Been a month since my brother passed. No matter how spending ammo gets, it's still cheap therapy. Go shooting. It does a body good. |
