Just cut down my FSP and put on the Troy Battlerail. Up by the barrel nut this is the best I can get it to line up. Where the red circle is it sits a tad bit higher on that side than the other. Can barely notice is, but I notice it. I even put my Trijicon on there and tightened it down to mate it the best I could.

That is pretty dang close.  Not sure if I would worry about that.

The general rule is anything less than a pube is spec.

How could you possibly live with that??

What upper receiver is that? It is so far out of spec, I can't believe it

You rifle looks fine. There is going to be slight differences between parts, no matter what you do.

Mounting a scope or red dot sight will prevent you from seeing this area anyways.

I'm still looking for that red circle.

One of the parts could be out of spec. Or one is on one end of being in spec. and the other part is on the opposite end of in spec. range.

Send it back....J/K

I believe that rail gives you the convenience of clamping onto the USGI barrel nut which isn't a supremely precision part when it comes to outside dimensions.
Try loosening the connection, than clamping the joint with something that has positive clamp like a carry handle, perhaps.
Then re-tighten to spec.

Also, maybe you can work it so your optic mount covers it, if it bothers you.

Ok so, I have a gap between my rail and my upper and a pube fits with a little room to spare.  After reading your previous post, I am now a bit distrought.  I have tried looking for thicker hair but they all seem about the same!

Great, just great!  Be a little more specific next time about what to polish with the file.  I am now at the urgent care and in a bit of pain i might say...

One must use the correct measuring equipment.

Soon to be released by color of said pube hair, red being the thickest.

I can tell this has gone from tech to GD.  Come on guys he asked a real question lot of people have been getting out of spec stuff and maybe the OP was concerned he got something out of spec.

This. Don't know why this went from tech to GD but I was asking a serious question. Sounds like I don't need to worry though, so the jokes can commence.

Actually, that is properly referred to the 'RCH' standard (red cunt hair).

It sits a tad higher on that side because the tube looks very slightly under-rotated.   I can see a slight angle in the edge where it meets the receiver rail.

Some people clamp a carry handle across the receiver and tube to align it.

I do something different.  I point the gun toward a lamp and look at the light reflection down the rail.  When you get that reflection perfectly flat and smooth down the rail, it's aligned.

Sorry for helping get this thread off track, I just couldn't help myself.

I had a similar problem with a YHM Diamond 9". Never could get it just right. I had iron sights mounted to the barrel so it didn't bother me so much for it to be off a tad.

It's pretty hard to do with this style of clamp on the Troy rails as they generally will move when you tighten one of the three clamps. I used a one piece scope mount to align my Alpha rail. There have been issues mounting this type of rail from Troy but they are usually related to an out of spec barrel nut.
