I might be crazy for starting a thread like this, but I'm really looking for understanding here, not trying to be racist. I read this blog post today: michellemalkin.com/2008/04/09/jamiels-law-the-revolt-against-las-illegal-alien-sanctuary-policy/ The news story it references talks about a Mexican gang member targeting and killing black kid in California, and this is not the first time I've heard of something like this. It seems like recently I heard some where that there is an ongoing problem with Mexican gangs performing "ethnic cleansing" of blacks in California. Mexicans and blacks hating each other seems to be hinted at in several movies as well. I really don't have much exposure to gangs at all in my life, so my questions is: are these movies and news stories portraying a real phenomenon, and if so what is the reason for these two groups not getting along? I'd particularly appreciate input from any members of the California law enforcement community with any first hand info on this subject. Lets please try to keep this conversation civil and scholarly if you will. |
| I've noticed a big change lately. One of my oldest friends is black and we used to go to the valley (border area of Texas) and a few years ago all was good. Lately the MS13 wannabes seem to have a stick up their ass. I notice it a lot in NY too. I've sat in pizza parlors where tables of blacks and hispanics will get in arguments and start hurling racial slurs back and forth, to the point you think they are going to shoot it out. Recently I saw blacks and hispanics fighting in a Wendy's in Austin. It definitely seems to be brewing. |
How the fuck do they arrest someone and not find out his citizenship status? You can't buy a gun without revealing your citizenship, but they can arrest someone and never bother to check  ?

It is racial profiling, and more importantly not politically correct, to ask citizenship status in most places.

You are correct but race is making target ID easier. Local (NOVA) police have seen the same trend in PG & Fairfax Counties (so I have been told). BTW/OT- I guess I am a "NoVA Gator" as well. UF class of '89. |
You know shit about the gang problem in CA. It's Race related. The mexicans control the poor areas that the black grew up in. The blacks used to treat the mexicans the same way when they were the majority in the area. Now the ball is in the mexicans court. But they don't mess with whites. I grew up in Socal. |
 Roll into that black area (or Latin area or Asian area) and try to distribute drugs. Or are the Mexicans going after affluent blacks (who would ostensibly be a softer and more lucrative target) as well? |

 Shows how much you know about it. In the Harbor gateway area the MS 13 and mexican gangsters are shooting high school kids that are black. No drugs dealers. The mexicans are trying to push the blacks out of the area and they're winning. It is Race related. Black gangs are interviewed and they admit they did the same thing 15 years ago when they ran the neighborhoods. When I visit my grandfather in West Torrance I have to drive through the area off the freeway. At the gas station they look at me any "whatz up sa"!  No shit. I'm german/english so there's no mistaking me for not being whitey. They have no beef with white folks for the most part. |
That's the opinion you form when you learn everything from newspapers. Hang out with these guys and there is real racial hatred. How it starts is irrelevant. The mindset they have formed is hatred for people of a certain race. When they fight in prison, you think that's because of turf also? ETA: What turf was Jamiel holding down?

I lived in the Santa Monica, CA from 1996 to 1999 and the Mexican and Black gangs were always shooting and beating each other back then..... I can remember the area of Venice Beach/Oakwood being a specific "hot zone" with all kinds of violent things happening between blacks/hispanics. When I was there I stayed away from certain areas after dark. Some areas I stayed away from no matter what time of day. |

ok...let's apply this logic test: if the Mexicans are shooting Blacks just because of their race, then why haven't hundreds of thousands of Blacks been shot by Mexicans yet this year? Bad things happen to bad people, and 99% of the victims of these "race related" crimes are dealing drugs. |
If EVERY Mexican in the country was out there shooting blacks, you'd see hundreds of thousands dead. Every Mexican in the country is not a gangster. Even among those who are, not all of them are out killing random people. I'll agree that most of those out there killing and being killed are gangbangers, but you'd be kidding yourself if you thought that race wasn't a factor at all. Just look at the prisons, especially in California. Their primary divisions are along racial lines despite whatever gang alliances or wars are going on in the streets. |
I think that's true of every prison. In NY they used segregate the prisons into black, hispanic and white wings to avoid fighting, however I think some civil rights lawsuits put an end to that. |
Come on man your trying to apply logic to gang members with a 3rd grade education. The immigrants here from south of the border are cleaning their neighborhoods as they see it. Simple as that. They will kill anyone of any color or race if you sell drugs in there turf. You’re in Virginia. Totally different word than Socal. I made the mistake of going down to Virginia Beach on the 4th of July about 4 years ago. I thought I was in a Nigerian riot. I know jack about that area. Is that normal for Virginia Beach? I spent $150 on a nice beach front dinner with my wife but had to drive through utter shit in order to get there. I thought it was worse than Crenshaw and Slawson. |

Only the most hardened criminals in our society can be expected to kill other citizens without real provocation. Unless you are trying to imply that every black or hispanic person in Southern California is a murderous criminal, your logic still fails. |
Just because they aren't committing genocide doesn't mean the hate isn't there. That is the most ridiculous argument I've ever heard. How many members does the Nation of Islam have? I still see plenty of Jews around the US though. I guess the 2 groups must love each other then. So again, if this is just about turf, what turf was Jamiel holding down? |

One of my best friends that lives in Anaheim Hills married a girl who is first in her family to be born here in the US. The family is from the Ensenadia area of mexico. The parents are divorsed. Mom lives in fontana and speaks no english, Dad lives in south central. Scott asked why they hell he lives in that shit hole. He says they're taking over and kicking out the blacks. There is a sence of price among the mexicans doing so. Not every white person was killing blacks back in the slavery days. Some where just racist others were killers. |
