I was one of the first few thousand Rush fans in the US. They played Chicago lots back in the mid-70's and I went to every one of their Chicago area shows - probably saw them eight or ten times before I enlisted. The first shows I saw was the Caress of Steel tour. I was listening to 2112 in 1976 and people were always asking who was that band? It's amazing that three guys can make so much noise. Their music was tight beyond belief. After Power Windows the music changed or I did.
But Rush was/is one of the greatest progressive rock bands ever.

You guys need to give Budgie a listen, if you haven't already. Think of them as Rush and Black Sabbath combined.

They put on a hellacious live show. My wife loves them. I call them the Canadian Screech Weasels.
Geddy Lee's voice is second only to Axle Rose's voice in sheer unpleasantness. |
